Writer’s block


Sinead dreamed of being a writer but, contemplating her enduring writer’s block, she worried she didn’t have enough life experience.

She hadn’t been born in a slum, or raised by the rich and famous; she’d never been kidnapped by jihadists, or battered by sadistic clergy; she’d never sailed solo across an ocean, or split an atom, or had her heart broken. She’d never even lived in Provence!

No, her life to date had been entirely unhelpful. Pizzas on Fridays, Sunday movies, Dad jokes, cuddles from Mum, and two halfway decent brothers. Not ideal at all.
