Ellen DeGeneres has been suffering through a berating of bad press recently and is reportedly “at the end of her rope.”
The daytime talk show host was long considered one of the most liked people in Hollywood, but a string of accusations from former staffers and guests have painted a far “meaner” picture.
“She thought this was all just sour grapes from a few haters. But it’s not a passing thing— the hits just keep coming,” a source told US Weekly.
DeGeneres has weathered accusation after accusation in recent months, with staff members slamming the show for failing to update them on the state of their employment during the coronavirus pandemic, to being accused of giving preferential treatment to A-listers by beauty blogger Nikki de Jager.
But the mud was being thrown long before the coronavirus hit.
The hateful comments against the host started when a comedian offered to make donations to a charity in exchange for peoples worst stories about her.
“Right now we all need a little kindness. You know, like Ellen DeGeneres always talks about. She’s also notoriously one of the meanest people alive.
“Respond to this with the most insane stories you’ve heard about Ellen being mean and I’ll match every one with $2 to LA Food Bank,” comedian Kevin T Porter tweeted.
Unexpectedly, the comedian was met with over 2,000 replies, some from former staffers, but almost all of them overwhelmingly painting the picture of a “cold” DeGeneres.
DeGeneres has yet to publicly comment or apologise, and none of the accusations have been formally verified.
